Taking Steps for a Fresher Planet 🌎

At Smoke Odor Exterminator, we’re all about fresh air—and not just for your home. While our main mission is kicking smoke odors to the curb, we also want to make sure we’re not creating more waste while doing it. That’s why we’ve made some greener choices when it comes to packaging and materials. They’re only part of the solution—but with a little help from you, they can make a real difference.

🌱 Our Packing Peanuts: Just Add Water

Those funny little packing peanuts in your box? They’re not plastic. They’re made from natural starch and are 100% biodegradable and water-soluble. Instead of tossing them in the trash, you can:

  • Dissolve them in water—seriously, they melt like magic!
  • Reuse them for packing or crafty projects.
  • Compost them if you have access to a home composting system or a local composting facility that accepts starch-based materials. (Just double-check local guidelines—some municipal composting programs don’t take packing materials, even the eco-friendly kind.)

If they end up in the trash, they’ll still break down much faster than traditional plastic peanuts!

♻️ Aerosol Cans: Recyclable—With a Few Steps

Our sprays come in fully recyclable aerosol cans, which is great news for the environment—if they’re recycled properly. Here’s the best way to handle them:

  1. Use the spray completely until the can is empty.

  2. Don’t crush or puncture it (that’s a safety issue).

  3. Check with your local recycling center to see if aerosol cans are accepted curbside or if you’ll need to drop them off.

We’ve made the cans recyclable—but the actual recycling is up to you.

📦 Cardboard & Paper Packaging: Ready for the Bin

Our boxes and inserts are made of paper and cardboard, which are some of the easiest things to recycle. Just break them down and toss them in the recycling bin—unless you’re one of those creative types who likes turning shipping boxes into cat forts (we fully support that).

Again, the materials are recyclable—but they won’t recycle themselves.

🌿 Small Steps, Big Difference

We know these aren’t world-changing moves, and we’re not pretending to be a zero-waste company. But by choosing recyclable and biodegradable materials, we’re creating opportunities for greener habits—if they’re used the right way.

So if you’ve got a few extra minutes, take that extra step. Recycle the can. Dissolve the peanuts. Flatten the box. Together, we can make a fresh-smelling dent in the waste stream.

Let’s keep the air clean and the Earth a little greener. 💚
